Run for the House
Since my company puts together a team and pays for employees to run in the annual Run for the House that benefits the Ronald McDonald House in Lansing, MI, it’s becoming a yearly tradition. Last year I did my first 5k in a few years and after running only twice the 6 months or so before the race. Neils also ran, participating in the kid’s sprint.
This year another coworker and I roped my boss/friend/former classmate, Matt, into running with us. So us three ran together. We didn’t break any records, but I got to use my five fingers in an actual race and we all had an enjoyable time. Since then Matt has started running on his own and we’re running once a week together at work during lunch.
Here’s Matt, I, and Chris right before the finish line:
Neils, this year, became an official participant and did the 1/2 mile run. To train he even came running with me once. When Melissa talked to him before the race his goal was to just run and see how he did. Pretty good strategy. It’s hard to judge how long that distance is. He did a great job.
Needless to say he had plenty of energy left at the end:
Go, my son, go.

Good job for finishing the run. Your 5 fingers are so neat. Are they comfortable? I think this is the first time that I see this kind of shoes. Keep up the running, they are good for you.
Wow! Go Neils! Great work guys!
You boys so rock!! Neils, we are so proud of you!! You are already a great runner! Way to go!
