Easter

March26

Easter is long past, I know, but here’s what we were up to for the weekend…

We started off with our easter baskets (couldn’t find the third basket, so Neils opted for the pumpkin bucket), and for some reason I thought a bubble wand and water gun sounded like nice, fun, Spring toys. Boys make everything a little more exciting. That’s all I have to say.

We had some friends from church come over Saturday for an indoor easter egg hunt, as it had snowed pretty heavily the day before. We ate brunchy things like scones and a sausage-potato-egg casserole, and fresh fruit.

Then we were off to pick up our poor kitty, Niketta, from the vet as I’d decided Friday I couldn’t wait another day to get her spayed. She was going in and out of heat constantly and it was driving us all nuts! Then we immediately headed over to the ward Luau, which I’d signed up to bring some things for. Conan wasn’t feeling up to it so he stayed home with Keane, but Neils, Burke and I all had fun eating Hawaiian Haystacks and all kinds of pineapply, coconutty desserts.

Easter Sunday I was not feeling tops, and had made no plans for our special Easter dinner. By the time we got home, ate lunch, and had rest time (which for me lasted until 6pm! Thanks alot Conan!) we decided on a nice asparagus stir-fry… from the freezer. But it was nice, we had crunchy noodles to make it "fancy" for the kids, and they all ate well, so that was nice.

Oh yeah, and we had more Peeps. We’d participated in Micah & Lizzie’s Peeps competition, so we had several varieties leftover.

Here is Neils’ concept and design, though Conan, Burke, and I each made one as well. We have pictured here our beloved Peepemon, from the front left corner we have: Wobbufett, Jigglypuff, Chansey, Jirachi, Pikachu, Azuril, Butterfree, Beedrill, and the very rare Bunny.

All in all it was a nice holiday. I just feel like I sort of missed out on all the great religious, spiritual things I usually look forward to. I was out of Sacrament meeting four times to take various people to the bathroom, and between that and keeping people quiet I pretty much heard nothing of what the speakers had said. We didn’t get to do the special Saturday night Family Home Evening I like to do to get the kids  (and me) on the right page for Sunday because we were out so late Saturday night and I was exhausted and hadn’t prepared adequately to be able to just jump right into it before bed. And in Primary I had prepared the wrong lesson. I didn’t realize until Sunday morning that they have a special lesson just for Easter and I was supposed to do that one. So I did it, but it just wasn’t well prepared and it just didn’t go well. But we had a fun time as a family, so that was wonderful. And if that’s all we got, it was still pretty dang good.
