Family Park Evening

So, having grown up in a non-Family-Home-Evening type home, the whole mini-church scenario at home just doesn’t suit me yet. But I do want to follow the prophets’ counsel and have a Gospel-centered home, and teach the gospel to our children on a regular basis as the FHE program is designed to do. We are slowly finding our way. What happens, more often than not, is a lesson (either formal or an informal discussion) on some important topic, then we play together. Sometimes it’s building a city out of our moving boxes, as seen in times past, and sometimes we just PLAY. I think our Family Park Evenings are just the BEST.

A Lovelady Family Tradition

August3

DSCF0419.jpg

So, you can’t be a Lovelady and let a summer go by without visiting a County Fair, apparently. It just wouldn’t feel right. We really enjoyed going to the local Ingham County fair a couple of evenings ago, and the boys had a wonderful time. Burke LOVES animals and wanted to touch and hug and love each and every one. SO sweet. I can’t wait to have a barn so we can get some goats or something. Those were his favorite. Neils didn’t really want to touch the animals at all, but he LOVED the carnival rides. By the time we bought the cotton candy, corndogs, elephant ear, and french fries, I had just enough money left for them each to ride one ride. Well, Keane is obviously too little, but Neils was glad to take his tickets while Daddy took the little guys back to see more animals. It’s all so nostalgic for me. All the years of going to the fair, watching over our pigs or whatever other animals we brought, watching all the interesting people, all of it. But my favorite part, is sharing that love and experience with my boys. Watching their faces light up with delight at the sights, sounds, smells (maybe not so much delight as disgust there), and experiences you can only have at your local county fair.

We LOVE Family!

August2

 DSCF0410.jpg

Well, being a twin, I love to share my space, and this past weekend I was in HEAVEN! It was wonderful to see Mom, Micah, Lizzie, Simon, Adrian, Jodie, and Clark all chillin’ in our space. Though, to be honest, these awesome Heiselt types don’t like to be idle, and on Saturday they cracked out most of our new wood floor! All we have left is about 3 feet in the living room, and the odd-shaped spots in the hallway. AWESOME. Thanks, guys SOO much for all your love and hard work!! Sadly, we have very few pictures to show for it, as my camera was MIA until the last day, and then it showed up with a nearly dead battery! Sheesh. But here are the photos we have, such as they are. Many thanks to Lizzie & Micah. I’m hoping we’ll still get copies of Mom’s photos, since we didn’t catch the Adrian & Jodie family or the much-loved Grandma in our brief smattering of the festivities.  Read the rest of this entry »
