ZOO!
So not too long ago we had a crazy day, making new friends, exploring our new terrain, it was fabulous. A little crazy at times, but fabulous. A new friend from our ward invited us to go berry picking, but when we arrived at the farm they informed us that the berries were all picked. A little disappointed, but determined to be undaunted, we picked a new destination, the local zoo! We had the most WONDERFUL time with our new friends, Steve and Becky. They are so kind and considerate to want to do something they know my kids would enjoy too, when they haven’t children of their own yet! I am so grateful for them. Immediately afterward we had a play date at another friend’s home. My kids really needed a day like that as much as I did. I am still amazed that all things worked out so perfectly. The boys all had a nice nap between events, and behaved themselves wonderfully well.
Burke’s favorite part of the zoo was the petting zoo. He just loved to hug the goats and anything else that would let him. Keane found it all very interesting and very much wanted to touch the animals, but was still a little apprehensive… and for good reason, I suppose… they are quite a bit larger than he is! Neils wouldn’t even come inside the gate. He couldn’t wait to move on to something else.
Neils loved getting his picture taken through all the different animal cut-outs and insisted we try every single one:
And we all thought the Mandrill was cool. It seriously looks like this primate is wearing an amazing mask:
Our friend Steven pointed out a new baby snow leopard being cared for in the veterinary clinic:
And I’ve always been a monkey girl. I just love all the cool things they do. Here’s a decent picture of one of the Spider Monkeys:

Amber was just like Burke at that age. We have about a million pictures of Amber hugging an assortment of goats…
Neils and Keane are adorable as a kangaroo pair, and I have to agree that the Mandrill is too cool. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one before.
