I’m Learning

December6

Wow. With Keane it’s finally sinking in… they don’t stay babies forever. With Neils and even Burke, that was a mantra to help me get through days and nights that seemed to last forever. Now, with Keane so mobile and Neils so grown-up and Burke so mischevious… I’m starting to remember what a blessed time each phase is.

This is coming from me during a REALLY hard day. I finally sent two of the three to a friend’s house for safekeeping, and having a moment of clarity. I love my children with all my heart. No matter how close to the breaking point I get, they are always my number one love and concern.

Happy Turkey Day!

December6

So, once again, forget posting this in any kind of timely manner, but here it is nonetheless. This was our first opportunity to host a Thanksgiving Dinner at our home, and if I may say so, I think it turned out quite well.

Plup in a Cup

December3

Keane’s discovered a new game. I like to call it Plup in a Cup. He likes to take a cup, drop a ball or some beads or small blocks inside and shake it all up! He just giggles and laughs at times, then other times seems to just study it so intensely… it’s hilarious.

Where'd it go?Shake that cup!So proud

He’s now talking, by the way. It actually started at about 10 months, but I was hesitant to really call it "talking" until it was consistent. But yup, he was talking. He says "Yeah" (his first word!), "baba" for bottle, "Bas" for bath, and "mo" for, you guessed it, more. No Mommy or Daddy yet, but hey! I’m just happy I know what he wants! Ok, in all fairness, he does do a generic "mummummummum" for an all-purpose "hold me, I’m tired, I’m sad, I’m ready to nurse." Maybe someday that will turn into a Mom. And he does to a generic "dadadad" when he’s excited, and when Conan walks in the door or is making silly faces at him. So that will certainly turn into a dadad someday soon.

And he’s ALMOST walking. Just doesn’t quite have the desire/confidence to give it a go. He can stand independently easily. He’s been cruising since about 8 months. He has taken a few steps from furniture to mom, or dad to mom, but isn’t quite ready to roll yet. Ah well, he’s got at least 19 days until his first birthday, right?
