Stuntman Burke
The shirt says it all. Burke really does his own stunts. He’s just not that good yet. Now that he’s been walking for a while he’s got more speed, more balance, and lots less blood. But don’t worry, we’ve got it around: on shirts, napkins, pants, washcloths, tissues, paper towels, our front porch, etc. He’s just amazing and so enthusiastic. Away he goes, looking intently…in a different direction. BOOM! His head hits a table (corner, wall, bunkbed, brother, chair, railing) and he just bounces off and hits the floor. It’s actually pretty funny except for the screams. Of course there are also the falls, tumbles, trips, bonks, and pretty much every other action where his head (or face) and some hard object can come together fairly quickly. For instance, the other day Burke was in his high chair. I started being silly and making him laugh. I snuck under the table and tickled his feet. He giggled and leaned forward, over his tray…which slid off. This is usually not a problem because we buckle him to the chair…but apparently not that day. Down he went. Face first. In to the floor. Our new hard tile floor. It just makes me cringe just thinking about it. [shiver] Fortunately, he only suffered a small bloody nose. If this kid survives his second birthday without death, dismemberment, or brain damage, he’s going to…um…I don’t know, but it will be nice.
